Doing Business with the City
The City of Hyattsville strives to ensure citizens receive maximum value for each dollar spent. We comply with all legal requirements, including City ordinances and Maryland State Statutes.
Contracts are awarded to the supplier submitting the lowest responsive and responsible bid, or the proposal that is in the best interests of the City to accept.
Commodities and services are purchased through the following processes:
- Informal Solicitation: For purchases costing less than $25,000, the City solicits quotes from interested suppliers. The City chooses the lowest responsive and responsible quote.
- Formal Solicitation: For purchases exceeding the informal bid limit of $25,000, the City issues formal Invitations to Bid, Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or Requests for Qualifications (RFQs). Opportunities are advertised on the State of Maryland's eBid Marketplace and on the City of Hyattsville website. Again, the City accepts the lowest responsive and responsible bid, or the proposal that is in the best interests of the City to accept. City Council approves the award of contracts resulting from the formal solicitation process.
