The following service organizations and resources can provide support for Hyattsville community members. This list is provided as guidance, but programs and services provided by external organizations are not vetted by the City of Hyattsville, unless otherwise noted.

- City of Hyattsville Teen Center Tutoring
- Sowing Empowerment & Economic Development, Inc. (SEED) provides housing assistance, food, clothing, education, and training to low- to moderate-income families and communities. Prince George’s County residents can call (301) 458-9808.
- The Prince George's County Memorial Library System provides many free resources with just a library card! Get access to online courses through LinkedIn Learning, tutorial videos, FAFSA Assistance, live bilingual tutoring and more.
- The University of Maryland Educational Opportunity Center offers free assistance to Prince George’s County residents age 19 and older to gain admission and obtain financial aid for post-secondary education.
- Prince George's Community College offers free English as a second language career exploration courses and ready-to-work certificate programs.

Food Assistance
- The City of Hyattsville and Capital Area Food Bank are partnering for a monthly FREE fresh produce distribution on the third Tuesday of the month, at noon, at the First United Methodist Church of Hyattsville, 6201 Belcrest Road. No registration or City residency is required. Questions? Email community@hyattsville.org or call (301) 985-5000.
- The City of Hyattsville and Passion & Compassion host fresh produce distributions on the fourth Saturday of each month for individuals and families dealing with food insecurity. Distributions start at noon; locations vary. No registration or City residency is required. Sign up for City notices to receive location details and event confirmation.

- Community Crisis Services, Inc provides information and referrals to assist community members in crisis. Call 211 to get started.

- The Federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration’s (SAMHSA) Disaster Distress Helpline provides free 24/7 crisis counseling and support. Call 1-800-985-5990 or text TalkWithUs to 66746.
- The National Domestic Domestic Violence offers free, confidential, 24/7 access to resources and relationship support. Call 1-800-799-7233 or text START to 88788

- Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland provides resources to assist home buyers and make home repairs.

- The Maryland Office of Home Energy Programs provides bill assistance to low-income households in the State of Maryland to make energy costs more affordable and to help restore home energy service.

- The Maryland Office of People’s Counsel Energy Assistance Toolkit provides several resources to restore and maintain local energy service.
- Lifeline is a federal program that provides discounts for limited income consumers on their telephone and internet services

- MetroAccess offers door-to-door transportation for seniors and individuals with a disability who are not able to use bus or metro services
- The Maryland Department of Aging offers various support services and programs for older adults to live healthy and meaningful lives
Winter Weather Alerts & Resources
- In the event of severe weather, the City will alert residents to road closures and other concerns through our e-mail and text communications.
- Non-emergency requests for items like tree limb removal from public roads or sidewalks can be reported on our Requests Page, by using the MyHyattsville app, or by calling (301) 985-5032 during business hours (M-F, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
- Downed utility wires should be reported directly to the appropriate utility. Find emergency utility contacts.
