Harvest and Use:

  • Fruits grow in clusters of 10-20 berries and ripen in August. They develop a deep purple color when ripe.
  • These plants are native to Maryland and have a greater nutritional value than blueberries!
  • Ripe berries are tart and sweet.
  • Berries can be eaten raw or made into jams, jellies, and juices.
