Harvest and Use

  • Harvest in June. Fruits turn a deep black-burgundy when ripe.
  • Currants are very tart and sweet, similar to a concord grape. Both berries and seeds are edible.
  • Currants can be eaten whole, baked into pies, cakes, or breads, or make into jams and jellies!
