Harvest and Use
- Harvest in July - August when berries turn fully black.
- Berries are sweet and tart. The variety in the Hyattsville food forests is thornless!
- Pull berries gently to avoid squishing. If they are ripe they will easily separate from their stem.
- Berries can be eaten whole, baked in to pies, cakes, and breads, or turned into jams or jellies.
