Harvesting and Use
- Summer blooming, usually lasting from June until the first frost.
- Flowers are purple and smell of black licorice. They attract many local pollinators like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds!
- The flowers can be used to brew a licorice flavored tea and the leaves can be used in salads. Clip the stem just above a set of leaves to allow the plant to grow another shoot.
- If you allow the flowers to go to seed, the seeds can be used as a licorice flavored seasoning in baked goods.
