Educational Path Scholarship Program

The Educational Path Scholarship supports Hyattsville high school seniors and graduates pursuing post-secondary education and career paths with funding for tuition, books, or other school materials.

2022-23 Scholarship Recipients

The City of Hyattsville is pleased to announce the recipients of the inaugural 2022-23 Hyattsville Educational Path Scholarship Program! This year's awards ranged from $1,000 to $3,500, and a total of $20,000 was awarded to our recipients. Congratulations scholars!

Scholarship Awards

  • Scholarships are awarded in amounts of $1,000, $1,500, $2,500, and $3,500
  • Funds can be used towards tuition, books, and other school materials

Eligibility

  • Candidates must be High School Seniors, High School Graduates, or GED Diploma Recipients
  • Candidates must be residents of the City of Hyattsville, Maryland; verify residency here
  • Candidate must currently have a 2.0 or higher weighted average GPA 
  • Candidate must be enrolled and/or accepted into a college, university, or trade school at the time of applying

Application Requirements

The candidate must submit an online application, two (2) personal statement essays, two (2) references, and the documentation requested below:

  • Two proofs of address (utility bills, lease agreements, or mortgage deed)
  • Proof of identification (passport, driver’s license, state of Maryland identification, school ID, etc.)
  • High school transcripts (current high school students) or a high school diploma (graduates)
  • College/university acceptance letter 
  • Documentation of all other scholarships/ grants awarded to the applicant
  • A letter or resume that shows the applicant's involvement in school and/or community activities
  • Two letters of recommendation

Application Procedure

  • Applications must be submitted online through the City’s website by April 7, 2023. 
  • Finalists will be interviewed by the selection committee between April 24, 2023, and May 5, 2023
