Speak Up HVL: The 2017 - 2021 Community Sustainability Plan
In May 2017, the City Council adopted Speak Up HVL: The 2017 – 2021 Community Sustainability Plan as its most recent sustainability plan for the City. Read the 2017 – 2021 Plan and Appendix.
In April 2017, the City released the first draft of the 2017 – 2021 plan, and encouraged residents to give feedback. During the month, the City received more than 120 comments back on the draft. View the list of comments as well as how staff incorporated the changes.
Progress Reports on the 2017-2021 Community Sustainability Plan
August 2018 Report: of the 67 action items, 9% are complete, 17.9% in progress, 28.4% ongoing and 44.8% not yet begun.
August 2019 Report: of the 67 action items, 13% are complete, 22% in progress, 27% ongoing, and 37% not yet begun.
August 2020 Report: of the 67 action items, 25.4% are complete, 17.9% in progress, 23.9% ongoing, and 32.8% not yet begun.
August 2021Report: of the 67 action items, 41.8% are complete, 19.4% in progress, 11.9% ongoing, and 26.9% not yet begun.
2018 Award for an Outstanding Plan
In October 2018, Speak Up HVL: The 2017-2021 Community Sustainability Plan was awarded the National Capital Area Chapter of the American Planning Association's award for "Outstanding Plan." The biennial awards ceremony recognizes superb planning contributions of cities, counties and consultant groups within Prince George's County, Montgomery County and the District of Columbia. Specifically, the award committee lauded the plan as a leader of effective community planning in Prince George's County and its high rate of implementation.
