Recreation Events
The Department of Recreation plans and conducts a community recreation program for all ages and offers
a Transportation Program for senior citizens and residents with disabilities.
Special Events
The Department presents many special events throughout the year, including
- the City's Anniversary Parade held in May
- the Hyattsville International Festival held in September.
- Family Splash Party,
- Senior Citizens Picnic
- Halloween Party
- Christmas Bazaar
- Movie Nights
This year, the Year 2000 Celebration will feature events throughout the year.

Hyattsville's 5th Annual International Festival
Hyattsville has begun to put together plans for our 5th Annual International
Festival to be held Saturday, September 16, 2000.
- Crafters, International
musicians and dancers who are interested in performing at the festival
should contact the Recreation Department at 301-985-5020.
- Community groups,
school organizations, churches, and civic clubs are also encourage to set up
displays and information tables. This is a great opportunity to meet your
Hyattsville residents and get them involved in your programs.
The Festival will be held on Hamilton Street between Ager Road and Queens
Chapel Road from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Activities include music, dancing,
carnival games, ethic food sales, an antique car show and much more. The
Festival will conclude with a wonderful fireworks display at dusk.
