Inspections

The City of Hyattsville stands as a proud partner with its business community. By working together, we will keep our City an attractive, safe, and vibrant environment for doing business.

Our Department of Code Enforcement is responsible for administering the City Code, International Property Maintenance Code, and the National Fire Protection Association Life Safety Code for all commercial businesses and properties. We regularly inspect all commercial sites for compliance with our codes.

All businesses within the City of Hyattsville require a City Business License.

Code Compliance

Hyattsville seeks voluntary compliance from all business and commercial property owners in meeting its standards. We will work with you when circumstances prevent achieving compliance within the timeframes set forth in the codes. However, chronic failure to correct code violations can result in fines ranging from $100 to $500 for a first offense and $200 to $1,000 for second and subsequent offenses.
