Hyattsville Government
Hyattsville was incorporated by an act of State Legislation on April 7, 1886.
In 1900, the Town Commissioners received authorization from the General Assembly
to implement a Mayor and Common Council form of government.
On March 23, 1943, the corporate name was changed to
Mayor and City Council of Hyattsville by bills enacted
by the General Assembly.
Today, the City Council consists of two representatives from each of the
five wards in the City and continues to be the governing body of Hyattsville
(meet your elected officials here.).
