City of Hyattsville Council Meeting

October 2, 2000, 8:00 p.m.

There will be a Special Meeting of the Council at 7:00 p.m. for the Presentation of the FY2000 Financial Statements by Tony Cuozzo, of Councilor, Buchanan and Mitchell, P.C.

There will be an Executive Session immediately following the Special Meeting to discuss legal issues.

CONSENT AGENDA

To declare one each 1990 Chevrolet Caprice VIN 1G1BL5472LA156908 to be surplus, and sold by Internet auction to the highest bidder.

To proclaim the 50th reunion of Hyattsville High School.

MOTION To approve $150 to $250 out of the Municipal Affairs Fund to support a reception at Northwestern High School to be held on October 23, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., to thank outgoing Principal Maxwell and to welcome incoming Principal Ritter. - Walker

MOTION To approve creation of a new occupational series for Public Service Aides consisting of three classes: Public Service Aide Trainee, grade 12; Public Service Aide, grade 13, and Senior Public Service Aide, grade 14. Approve creation of a new class, Senior Administrative Aide, grade 16. Approve creation of a new class, Assistant City Administrator, grade 25. In addition, upgrade the Police Officer from grade 15 to grade 16 and Corporal from grade 16 to grade 17. Salary increases are effective at the beginning of the pay period following approval of classification and grade changes. - Perry

MOTION To accept a Smart Growth Transit Program grant from Maryland’s Mass Transit Administration in the amount of $315,000 for the second phase of the Hamilton Street Improvements project from Ager Road to Queens Chapel Road. - Frazier

MOTION To accept a Smart Growth Transit Program grant from Maryland’s Mass Transit Administration in the amount of $100,000 for construction of new sidewalks, wheelchair ramps, and related improvements. - Walker

MOTION To accept a Community Development Block Grant in the amount of $100,000 to improve Nicholson Street from Ager Road to Queens Chapel Road. - Frankle

MOTION To accept a reprogrammed CDBG grant in the amount of $300,000 for street improvements in various parts of the City. - Wilson

MOTION To approve a memorandum of understanding between the City of Hyattsville and State Highway Administration for supplemental funds in the amount of $500,000 for the Route project. - Currie
