Thrive Grant Program

Part of the Health, Wellness, and Recreation Advisory Committee’s mission is to coordinate community engagement initiatives to encourage healthy lifestyles. It is important that these initiatives are not just created for the City of Hyattsville community, but that they are initiated and developed from the Hyattsville community as well. The Thrive Grants program is intended to foster overall community participation in the promotion of health, wellness, and recreation activities in the City of Hyattsville. Applicants will be able to apply for up to $500 per project.

Eligibility

This program will fund initiatives created by individuals, organizations, and businesses, that live, work, play, and thrive in the city. Examples include, but are not limited to, projects or initiatives promoting and engaging residents in healthy eating, promoting and engaging residents in active living, promoting and engaging residents in designing healthy communities, or developing public awareness campaigns.

DEADLINE: Complete applications must be submitted by 5 PM ET on January 17, 2020

Applications will be reviewed by the Health, Wellness, and Recreation Advisory Committee and then submitted to the Mayor and City Council for approval of awards. Request for Proposals:  Commissioning Art on the Subject of Health, Wellness & Recreation

The Hyattsville Health, Wellness and Recreation Advisory Committee's goals (HWRAC) are to promote a healthy and vibrant community, develop public awareness campaigns, and coordinate community engagement initiatives to encourage healthy lifestyles for the residents of the community. As part of the effort, the HWRAC is looking to commission local artists to create work that reflects the themes of health, wellness and/or recreation that can be displayed at various times and events throughout the community.  Up to $2000 in funding is available to commission the project(s).

Pre-Proposal Meeting:

A recommended meeting with the HWRAC will be held at the Hyattsville City Building on February 5, 2020, at 7 p.m. for artists interested in learning more about the project.

How to Apply

Proposal submissions will be accepted beginning 8:30 AM ET on January 17, 2020. The deadline is at 5 PM ET on March 2, 2020.

Proposals will be reviewed by the Health, Wellness, and Recreation Advisory Committee and then submitted to the Mayor and City Council for approval of Commission.
