Groundbreaking
Prince George’s County officials, ECHO Realty Executives, and representatives from the City of Hyattsville officially broke ground on the Safeway site on Wednesday, May 7th. The groundbreaking marks “the first page in the next chapter of University Town Center,” said Mayor Tartaro.  This project sets an example for public-private partnerships with support provided by the County’s Economic Development Initiative (EDI) fund and from the City of Hyattsville’s Revitalization Tax Credit program, designed to support revitalization projects. David Iannucci, economic development aide to the County Executive, believes that Safeway is “our opportunity” and that “we are optimistic that the Safeway will bring new life to the area.”
